An understanding of a view, of those hearts

When I was on the balcony facing the vast sea, I was just amazed。

That was a paradise lying in the mountains, facing Jilong Harbor of Taiwan。 Mum and I were on our second day’s trip and it took us more than an hour to find our homestay。 We passed through crowds of people with heavy packages until we sensed that the GOOGLE system seemed to lead us to a completely wrong direction。 Mum had no choice but to telephone the host。

Five minutes later, he came all the way down in his white motorcycle。 “I’m really sorry, ladies, but I’m afraid you still need to walk up the stone steps to the very top where your house is, I’ll help you with the luggages, OK?”

“Of course!” So there we went, exhausted but curious, until the host, around 50 years old, led us to our flat, where I was fascinated by the marvelous view。 “Enjoy your day! We will meet you at tomorrow’s breakfast。” He closed the door gently, leaving us a voice as beautiful as the giant painting of mother nature, right before us。

I couldn’t fall asleeep。 The whole night passed with each breath of endless waves。 When a beam of light shone on the sleeping houses, the whole world was just like a newly-born infant, quiet and innocent。 From the window, I saw the host and his wife in the small café they owned。 The hostess started preparing her self-made sandwiches while her husband was cutting different fruits into tiny little plates at the open kitchen。 The red wall and nostalgic furniture reflected the old days they had spent together, greeting the glorious sun every morning。 Their hearts were rooted here, a place seperated from the outside world, a place which formed their generous and true temperaments。

Suddenly the host looked up and our sight met。 He waved to me with a charming smile。 A flash of sun cast shadow on his face, making him so energetic, so young。 A saying pumped into my mind, the meaning of which I came to realize at that moment: it is not the view, but the people, that moves you to tears every time。
